Run with the ball towards the goal and goalkeeper, try to score and follow up to score from any rebounds.
Shoot with the inside of the foot, including from rebounds. Practise placing the finish accurately with both feet. Try swerving the ball around the goalkeeper. If the goalkeeper goes to ground early, try to shoot over him or her.
Run with the ball from a slight angle and shoot with the inside of the foot.
Coaching points (here we call them SECRETS):
  • Turn your foot outwards and connect with the ball in the middle of the inside of the foot
  • Keep your toes pointing upwards so that your foot feels solid at the moment of contact
  • Most accurate when shooting from close range and from medium distances
  • The further you are from the goal, the further back you should swing the kicking foot
  • Accuracy is achieved by connecting with the ball properly
  • Practise shooting with both feet
