One player throws or passes a high ball to another player who shoots on the half-volley towards the goal and the goalkeeper. Shoot with both the right and the left foot. Swap roles.
Shoot on the half-volley with the instep, the inside and the outside of both feet.
Vary the distance to the goal and the direction from which the ball comes to the shooter. Shoot both with your first and second touch.
Coaching points (here we call them SECRETS):
  • You can shoot on the half-volley in various ways, including with the instep, inside and outside of the foot
  • Keep your foot solid at the moment of contact
  • Connect with the ball immediately after the bounce
  • This enables you to avoid the ball's friction against the ground at the moment of contact
  • You can pull away and shoot with a stretched instep without the risk of kicking the ground
  • Accuracy is achieved by connecting with the ball properly
  • Practise shooting with both feet
