Two players pass to each other over various distances.
Pass with a straight, stretched instep. Use both your right and left foot. Pass stationary and rolling balls, and when players are running with the ball.
Pass first touch, i.e. a direct pass. Also practise instep passes when the ball is in the air.
Coaching points (here we call them SECRETS):
  • Connect with the ball in the middle of the upper side of the foot with a straight, stretched instep
  • Keep the instep solid at the moment of contact
  • Best for long passes
  • You can also chip with the instep
  • Accuracy is achieved by connecting with the ball properly
  • Learn to pass with both feet
