Three players per group. Take turns being a semi-active defender and attacker. Give support, pass to each other and practise back-foot moves.
Perform the feint both with a rolling ball and after having stopped it. Try repeating the move if necessary in order to pass back.
Restrict the area, allow the defender to be fully active and to swap places with the person who missed in the event of an interception.
Coaching points (here we call them SECRETS):
  • The back-foot move is good when you are being pressured by an opponent
  • You might be in the process of receiving the ball or you might already have it
  • You can perform the move at the very moment you trap it
  • It is suitable both when your opponent is moving towards you and when he/she is standing and waiting
  • Ideally carry out a small lunge at your opponent first, such as when you are going to dribble
  • Your opponent will often become cautious, stay put and wait
  • In this way you keep your opponent at a distance, giving yourself time and space to feint
  • You can also start with a passing or shooting move
  • In this case, use both your arms and gaze to help when feinting
  • You can create an open space in which to pass, shoot, dribble or run with the ball
  • You can perform the feint both with and without subsequent dribbling
  • If you intend to dodge away with the ball after the feint, feel free to knock the ball as you make the move
  • Knock it in the direction of your run with the inside of your foot, your heel or drag it with your sole
  • Increase your speed explosively in order to get away from your opponent
  • You can also run in front of your opponent, who will then lose speed
  • Drag or knock the ball behind your non- kicking foot, usually with the inside of your foot
  • It is also possible to drag the ball with your sole or to backheel it
  • You automatically screen the ball from your opponent with your non-kicking leg
  • You will usually perform the feint when stationary, moving the ball sideways to find an open space
  • You can also knock the ball forwards in the direction you are running when you are moving forwards
  • In this case, you have to change the direction of your run slightly
  • When the ball is coming towards you, you can stop it before performing the feint
  • You can also perform the move with a rolling ball as you receive it
  • You can repeat the move several times if necessary in order to make space
  • In this case, for example, you must be able to perform the feint in different directions and using both feet
  • The back-foot move can be performed in various ways, so try the ways which suit you best
