Practise the body move in pairs. Move towards your opponent at speed. Swap roles after a few attempts.
Feint clearly with your body, using your arms and gaze to help. Increase your speed to get away from the opponent. Try the types of body move which best suit each player.
Only change places when the opponent intercepts.
Coaching points (here we call them SECRETS):
  • The body move is good when you are moving at speed toward your opponent
  • You get your opponent off balance by feinting with your body in one direction
  • Use both your arms and gaze to help when you move
  • First look in the direction you are feinting
  • Take a long, powerful step in the same direction
  • Angle both your body and arms in that direction as well
  • When your opponent e.g. leans in that direction, dodge away in the other direction
  • You can perform the body move in other ways; try out the ways which suit you
  • You still have to increase your speed to get away from your opponent
  • You can also run in front of your opponent who will then lose speed
  • Occasionally you can repeat the feint until your opponent loses balance
  • Learn to carry out the body move in various directions and at high speed
  • Learn to use both feet
