The attacker challenges the defender, performs a shooting move and finishes with a long-distance shot or continues towards goal and gets into a one on one with the goalkeeper. Swap roles.
Feint the shot clearly with your body, arms and gaze. Continue forwards in the same direction or turn in the other direction after the feint. Also try repeating the feint.
Restrict the area, play one against one with plenty of shooting moves.
Coaching points (here we call them SECRETS):
  • If you are going to shoot but there is an opponent in the way, a shooting move may be a good idea
  • Clearly move as if to shoot so that your opponent tries to cover the shot
  • Feint with your kicking foot and your whole body, using your arms to help
  • Also use your gaze to help by looking at the goal immediately before the shooting move
  • Instead of shooting, dodge to the side and diagonally forwards
  • You will usually have to increase speed to get away from your opponent
  • Continue forwards in the same direction or turn in the other direction after the feint
  • It is also possible to repeat the feint where necessary
  • You have time and space e.g. to shoot, dribble or pass after the feint
  • You can also get into a one on one with the goalkeeper
  • Learn to carry out shooting moves in both directions and using both feet
  • The shooting move is so effective that it is good for all the players to learn it carefully
