Three players practise passing moves. Two pass and one tries to intercept. Swap roles after a while. The person with the ball moves as if to pass in one direction and then passes or dribbles in the other direction. His/her team-mate gets into position behind the defender's back.
Feint the pass clearly with your whole body and use your arms and gaze to reinforce the move.
Restrict the area and change places with the defender following an interception.
Coaching points (here we call them SECRETS):
  • The passing move can be used at almost any time
  • For example, it is an alternative to many skills, e.g. the wall pass
  • For this reason it is good for all players to learn the passing move particularly carefully
  • The passing move is often used without subsequent dribbling
  • Feint a pass clearly in one direction
  • Feint with your whole body, using your arms to help
  • Practice aiming your non-kicking foot in the direction you are feinting your pass as well
  • Try feinting with your kicking foot, stopping the movement at the last moment
  • If possible, look in the direction you are feinting the pass just before you feint
  • When your opponent covers that direction, you dribble or pass in the other direction
  • Learn to carry out passing moves in different directions
