Drill practices, Game practices and Practice at home, as well as more general coaching points ("Secrets").
Play one against one, each with a team-mate in support. The attacker can also pass to the defender's team-mate, who must then pass back to the attacker. Score by rolling the ball or running with it into one of the opponents' two five-metre goals. Take turns attacking. Swap roles after a while.
Practice making deep runs. Feel free to perform another run first to create the space you need.
Compete and count the number of goals scored.
Coaching points (here we call them SECRETS):
  • When you make runs straight forward in the deep at high speed, this is known as a deep run
  • Try to make deep runs at high speed, past your opponents' back line, as often as you can
  • When your team is attacking, at least one player should always take the initiative and make a deep run
  • You can create space for deep runs e.g. by performing a v-run first
  • Pass to the player making the deep run in good time and in the direction the player is running
  • Your deep runs enable you to give support forwards in the deep yourself
  • Your deep run also creates space in which your team-mates can give support
  • Generally speaking, deep runs are made without the ball
  • It is sometimes good to take the initiative and make a deep run forwards with the ball as well
  • You can begin your run with the ball, pass and get the ball back in the deep
  • This can take place e.g. with the aid of a wall pass past your opponents' back line
  • You can play the ball into the deep, e.g. behind a straight back line, and run after it yourself
  • This can often be effective against a team which is playing with a high back line
  • It is a good way of avoiding going offside when your opponents are using offside tactics
  • You will gradually learn to make your deep runs at the right moment
  • You will learn to recognize how you should run and when you should start moving
  • E.g. to run in good time, to run long when necessary and to avoid going offside
  • Learn to perform long runs, starting them a long way from your opponents' back line
  • Learn to perform deep runs in small areas inside your opponents' box
  • Learn to start your run even before the player who is going to pass to you has received the ball
  • In this way, you will get up to speed before you receive the ball
  • And your team-mate can pass to you before he or she comes under too much pressure
  • E.g. pass to you with one touch
  • When you make deep runs without receiving the ball, you should ideally still follow up your run
  • If there is a risk of you going offside, make e.g. a new run in a different direction
  • A team-mate can then make a deep run instead without going offside
